This is an extension methodology that engages the communities to learn together while they identify con- straints and their possible remedies in their farming sys- tem. It yields to community empowerment through dis- covery learning and promotes innovativeness. Farmers address holistic development aspirations through a broad curriculim with special topics to address their day to day challenges and needs.
Through farmer-led FFS local capacities are created to sustain the learning within the communities with or with- out external facilitators. Secondly level organisations (FFS Networks) are encouraged at higher levels (sub- counties and district) to build synergies and take ad- vantage of economies of scale for collective action in marketing, negotiations, savings mobilisation and a uni- fied voice for advocacy.
